A Sense of Place
As someone who grew up on and amongst mountains, rivers, and lakes, I use these geographic features as a frame of reference. A snowy peak on the horizon grounds me physically and mentally. I sleep soundly near the rush and hush of a river. A Sense of Place engages with a specific place, the lake district of Southern Chile, to create a surreal sequence of new and remixed landscapes.
The video piece was created October 2011 during an artist residency at Casa Ko in Puerto Varas, Chile. High quality version available upon request.
Reed College Senior Thesis: Latin Pop Music Video Games!
My Senior Thesis at Reed College, entitled Solamente Una Vez: Playing with Identity through Interactive Music Video
was a experiment in genre-bending and an extensive mix of multimedia elements. Through a combination of
music production and recording, video editing, 3D modeling, game and graphics programming, and language study, I made two different
music video games: Solamente Una Vez and Cuanto Vales. For the senior show, I projected the games on the wall and
players used a wiimote gun to interact.
